Artisan Market baked up a storm

bake off winnerwebSeaton Artisan Market went “baking” mad at one of its last markets with a Bake Off contest that offered preschoolers to adults the chance to win some great prizes. Despite the windy weather, many people entered and scooped the top prizes which included a stay at award winning Bay Tree House B&B, a hamper from Paul’s Bakery, vouchers from Pebbles Café, books from Owl & Pyramid, a Heart FM Tour, and a Genesis Vintage Interior gift pack.

The panel of judges included expert baker Becky Simms from Paul’s Bakery, Chef Pete from Pebbles Café, online specialist food retailer Julia Arrigo from Dotcomartisan, Seaton Town Development Team’s Nadia, and James Sedgwick, Trade Lead Manager at Seaton Tesco’s. Organiser Karin Frewin commented, “We were delighted that people braved the windy conditions to enter, especially those who carried their Mary Berry creations down Fore Street. The level of entries was impressive.”

Preschool Best decorated biscuit category was won by Alex Flynn, Manha Nawal walked away with the KS1 Best decorated cupcake prize, while Ella Cheffey won the Key Stage 2A prize. The Featherstone family scored a hat trick winning the Best Sausage Roll and Best Mince pie for Key Stage 2 and 3B categories, and Lydia Featherstone being awarded overall winner of the Adult Category with her stunning Mary berry Classic Christmas Cake.
