Lights, Santa, Carnivals and Choirs. Good golly, it must be Christmas. Time again for Seaton to Eat Boutique as the town makes merry for the Festive Season. Join us under the twinkling lights of Windsor Gardens to sup on German sausages and Persian chicken wraps, hot chocolates and mulled cider.

They’ll be serving from 4pm  on Friday 2nd December, Windsor Gardens as part of the Seaton Christmas Carnival Festival and turning the lights on. For more info see

Double delights Coming to Town for Christmas!

 

Seaton will be getting double measures this year! Not only is Santa Claus coming to Town, Queen Victoria will also be visiting during the Festive Season.

Shoppers are in for a treat again in the run up to Christmas.  Seaton’s celebrations will get underway on Dec 2nd when the Xmas lights are turned on and the Seaton Carnival heralds in the arrival of Father Christmas. The following day Seaton’s traditional Christmas Artisan Market will start at 10am on Windsor Gardens. Beautiful hand-crafted Christmas gifts and products from high quality traders with everything from artisan glass work, wood carving and beautiful jewellery though to hand-made fudge and well as traditional mulled wine will be available.

On Saturday December 10th a royal visit will take place. Queen Victoria will be arriving at the Victorian Artisan Market on Windsor Gardens and the Town Square at 10am.  She will be accompanied by her friends Seaton’s Town Crier, Scrooge – who is rumored to be on stilts! and Victorian characters on traders stands and roaming around. There will be a host of entertainment during the day including dancing characters courtesy of JMDancefit, music from Seaton Primary School Choir and Victorian musicians and more.

Seaton Jurassic Best UK Day out

Seaton Jurassic recently scooped runner-up spot in the category of ‘Best UK Day-out for Families’ at the annual Family Traveller Awards.

Owned by East Devon District Council and operated by the charity Devon Wildlife Trust, Seaton Jurassic has welcomed an estimated 35,000 visitors through its doors in its first six months since it was opened by HRH the Princess Royal.

The Family Traveller Awards are an annual set of awards presented within 25 different categories ranging from Best Family Theme Park to Best Family Festival and everything in between.seaton-town-guide-14

Date set for Seaton Cycle Fest 2017

Seaton Cycle Fest

The Cycle Fest, which featured the only town centre Crit in the area, was acclaimed as “the best course in the South West” by many cyclists who took part this year.  The 2017 event promises an exciting day of cycling and entertainment for all. This year it is hoped to include another elite category to the race circuit and The Festival Team will be working hard over the next few months to get it all in motion.

Karin Frewin, marketing & events specialist with Seaton Town Council and Town Development Team commented “We are really pleased to be able to bring the Cycle Fest back again next year, and to be working with British Cycling and 1st Chard Wheelers again.  We’ll be updating information on the Cycle Fest website during the course of 2016 and we’re looking forward to July”

Art@Jubilee returns this Sunday

Seaton’s Town Development Team’s (STDT) final  cultural art show  Art@Jubilee takes place this Sunday 18th Sept from noon to 4pm. Held in the prominent and beautiful setting of Jubilee Gardens overlooking the seafront in Seaton, Art@Jubilee is for anyone who likes art.

The outdoor art show showcases the work of local talented artists from Devon, Dorset and Somerset. As well as having the opportunity to view the art, you can purchase artworks at affordable prices. Also take the opportunity to  talk to the Artists in residence, John Buckley and Rich Webster, both local artists who will be exhibiting at the event this weekend. sept-2016-art-show-artjubilee

Seaton Artisan Market

Enjoy Seaton Artisan Market this summer

With summer finally here it’s a great time to get out and about and enjoy our fantastic local shops, markets, and eateries. For something different to the run of the mill, our local Seaton Artisan Market on Windsor Gardens, Seaton is a wonderful place to find everything from wood carving, hand-made pottery, glass wear, ceramics and jewellery and even handmade scrumptious cakes. The open air market, which has been a part of Seaton Town Development Team and Seaton Town Council’s initiative to enliven the town’s centre for a few years, is free and runs on the first Saturday of each month in Seaton.

Mountain Bike winner

Seaton Cycle Fest Winner-5There are frequently some weird and wonderful prizes given out at cycle races, everything from showers to giant swords. At this year`s Seaton Cycle Fest  however a spectacular Diamond Back mountain bike worth £350.00 was up for grabs in the raffle and some great prizes for those  part in the kids fun races alongside the main British Cycling races.

The raffle winner Mrs Dorward of Seaton was delighted with her Diamond back cycle which was donated by Bikenutz- Cyclelife Axminster.  Manager Ian Bruton commented, “We are keen to support local cycle events and encourage people of all ages to enjoy riding a bike. The Seaton Cycle Fest was a great success with good racing across all categories. We were proud to donate prizes and look forward to supporting this event each year”.

The Cycle Fest, which featured the only town centre Crit in the area has already been acclaimed as the best course in the South West by cyclists.  Between the main British Cycling races, local school children were given a chance to compete in a relay on the course with three teams competing. First place went to the Spitfire team winning £60.00 of vouchers from sponsor Tescos;  2nd place went to “The Beasts” winning £40.00 vouchers from sponsor Smith Local; and 3rd place went to the Biker Buddies winning £30.00 of vouchers.

Art@Jubilee

Over the summer months Seaton’s Town Development Team is presenting their series of cultural art events: Art@Jubilee, held in the prominent and beautiful setting of Jubilee Gardens overlooking the sea.

Art@Jubilee is for anyone who likes art and takes place on the 3rd Sunday in each month  starting May 22nd through to Sunday Sept 18th from 12 noon to 4pm. In June, on the 19th, it will be part of the Seaton Cycle Fest Art@Jubileewww.seatoncyclefest.co.uk

The outdoor art exhibition will showcase the work of local talented artists from Devon, Dorset and Somerset. There will be chance to view the art, purchase pieces as well as enjoy the atmosphere.

The plan for Art@Jubilee came from the Town Development Team’s cultural sub-group and is being coordinated by local artists John Buckley and Rich Webster, who will both be exhibiting on Sunday May 22nd.

Whether you are a race team member, love watching cycling, or just want to come and join in the fun, there’s something for you at the Seaton Cycle Fest. Our new annual cycle festival includes the only town centre Crit in the area. There’s also plenty of family entertainment.

Come along and enjoy Spectacular cycling races, BMX displays+ training, family entertainment, Festival Village, Arts Zone, Beachside Watersport & Chill Zone with live bands from 7.30pm.
