It’s wet and windy but there’s plenty of reason to get out and about in Seaton no matter how young, old or fit you are! Brand new orienteering courses are up and running thanks to a joint initiative between Seaton Town Development Team and East Devon’s Countryside Team.
Two new orienteering courses have been developed that take in the town centre and Seaton Wetlands. The Town Centre course, which starts at Seaton TIC, offers four routes of differing lengths including Brontosaurus, Velociraptor, Stegosaurus and T-Rex, while the Wetlands route explores the beautiful Seaton Wetlands utilising existing paths and boardwalks and avoiding any sensitive habitats. It does not matter how fit you are as you can run, walk or jog the course and progress at your own pace.
In what has been a very strong partnership between the STDT and EDDC Countryside Team, both working with Striving for Adventure, a range of courses which anyone can use, from beginner to the more serious has been created. The orienteering courses can be downloaded free or picked up at the Seaton TIC.
Orienteering is an exciting outdoor activity that involves walking or running whilst using a map and compass. The aim is to navigate between a set of control points and decide the best route to complete the course in the quickest time.
