Running Banks of the Coly

Seaton and its hilly hinterland offer an eclectic selection of routes for both road and trail runners to enjoy. The terrain underfoot ranges from gentle, sealed-surface seaside paths through to wild woodland tracks and rugged hill climbs that culminate with cracking coastal views.

The town is home to the Axe Valley Runners – one of the region’s biggest running clubs and the pumping heart of a fantastically active community, who welcome runners of all abilities to join them. Seaton’s signature event is the infamous Grizzly run  a 20-mile mixed terrain run that has been held annually each March since 1988. The notoriously challenging race attracts thousands of competitors, some from as far away as Germany and the Netherlands, including some elite athletes. A shorter course is also offered, and there’s a fun run and a race for juniors, so everyone is catered for. Other running events take place in the area throughout the year.
